Lovely place, friendly staff who clearly care so much about the cats in their care. We adopted a lil old lady cat from them and it was the best decision! They were very helpful and realistic with us. Highly recommend if you're considering getting a pet, they have lots of cats in need!
I've added a picture of our gorgeous older girl đź’—
I will always acknowledge the wonderful work by cats protection overall. I have been involved with animal welfare and animal rights my whole life and have supported this charity many years. However, after adopting a cat from this branch of C.P my personal circumstances changed dramatically and unexpectedly. My other cats were also being bullied by the new cat which meant I could not give the "time" needed to address things "properly". So after a week I broken hearted had to leave my new little friend back to the shelter to do right by him. I was met with a total lack of understanding by the staff. My personal circumstances were just washed over like I simply didn't matter, and all they focused on was the fact I left the cat back. I was astounded by their attitude. There's always a wider picture and the fact I put the cats interest
first in leaving him back was lost on them. So please take with a pinch of salt that staff will work with you and help with problems which may rise after adoption. I was even told by a member of staff that leaving a cat back meant a life ban on adopting again. Is this being understanding to someone who would never have dreamt of returning a cat to a shelter if a major life event hadn't happened ? I think not. Also there are times an adoption just doesn't work for many reasons, and its in the interest of the cat to return to the shelter to hopefully get another chance in circumstances more suited to its personality and needs! There's something very wrong with this practice and regime of closing a door on someone who tried to adopt but it wasn't possible for various factors and lets Cats protection down . This branch anyway. Maybe they would have preferred me to keep a lonely little cat in a strange new home in a room on his own with strangers coming to feed him etc until his new mum could leave a hospital situation?. Seems so.
All of the staff are lovely, and the kittens were soo well looked after. They even sent us video updates as we couldn't get the kittens due to an illness outbreak.
We got a pair of sisters, all cats where happy and the place is immaculate, would definitely recommend a visit if your looking another pet, staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
A great place with the most caring people. when it comes to help and information or anything else to do with your cats. I would highly recommend this place.
I recently had the pleasure of adopting two kittens from Cats Protection in Dundonald, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. The staff, particularly Ryan, went above and beyond to ensure that I was well-informed and supported throughout the entire process.
From the moment I stepped into the shelter, Ryan's knowledge and expertise shone through. He patiently listened to my concerns and preferences, and then proceeded to provide me with extensive information about each kitten, including their backgrounds, health history, and temperaments. Ryan took the time to explain the pros and cons of each kitten, allowing me to make an informed decision.
What struck me most was Ryan's dedication and love for cats. It was evident that he genuinely cared about the well-being of each animal and was passionate about finding them suitable homes. His genuine enthusiasm was infectious, and it made the entire adoption experience all the more enjoyable.
Not only was Ryan exceptional, but the rest of the staff at Cats Protection were also equally courteous and compassionate. They took the time to answer my questions and provided valuable insights on kitten care, ensuring that I was fully prepared to welcome these new additions into my home.
The kittens themselves were in excellent health and were clearly well-cared for during their time at the shelter. Cats Protection's commitment to the welfare of their animals was evident, and it gave me peace of mind knowing that I was adopting from a reputable organisation.
Overall, my experience with Cats Protection in Dundonald was outstanding. Ryan's knowledge, patience, and willingness to share his expertise made the adoption process smooth and enjoyable. The dedication and love demonstrated by the entire staff reaffirmed my belief in their commitment to the welfare of cats. I highly recommend Cats Protection to anyone looking to adopt a feline companion. They truly go above and beyond to ensure the best possible matches between cats and their forever homes.
